Helicopter Technician
Dear Arctic…
I’m writing this with a tear in my eye because I want to Thank you!
Thank You for hosting a place where I made new friends. Friends which I’m gonna miss and might never see again. Our paths will split after coming back to the land where the surrounding are green and not frozen. Your frosted nature might be below zero and dark for a long time but your soul is not.
I have felt so much warmth around me in the times you was my home in your dark winter months and your bright summer.
To these friends you have been an inspiration and source of information they desperately need to help you.
Thank you for sharing with them what is in your heart. Your heart is not cold but full of life, a life which is on the base of a circle of life. My new friends want to tell your story, a story I do not always understand. Because of the reason I am here is different to theirs. I’m a Helicopter mechanic from the Netherlands, and helping my new friends to find the answers they desperately want. My team flies the Helicopter that now and then disturbs your wonderful peace. Thank you for being honest and blinds us from flying so we can spend our time feeling your white veil full of mysteries. Time to admire the Polarbears, Seals and Bird to who you give life.
But why did I meet friends here. Because they want to understand who you are and what you feel. You are threatened and they want to help you to tell your story what humans can do stop it.
Unexpected I received a message that a little girl is on the way, and I want my little girl to see how beautiful you are. I do not want you to become a “once upon a time in North” story. Please stay and reveal your secret to my friends.
Soon I have to say goodbye to my friends, but I would love to say “See you soon”.
But to you my beautiful Arctic I wish to say: Don’t leave, stay forever.
Dave
